The following are key topics identified during the meeting:

Transportation

  • Quality of US 331 and the causeway
  •  A proposal for trolley service on 30-A, primarily during tourist season
  •  Incorporation of service roads in major roadways
  •  Additional turn lanes
  •  Better synchronization of traffic lights
  •  Improving Hwy 20, four lanes from Panama City to Freeport
  •  Coordinate with Corridor Authority
  •  Improve evacuation routes

Public Safety

  •  Improve enforcement of disabled parking
  •  Ticketing without holding up traffic, cameras,
  •  Better speed limit regulation/coordination
  •  Catwalks over US Hwy 98, scenic 98, 30-A
  •  Prepare for vagrants/homeless
  •  Better animal control
  •  Employ better standards for lifeguards
  •  Support the volunteer system in the sheriff department
  •  Increase neighborhood watch program/systems
  •  Increase infrastructure that affects ISO fire rating, more fire hydrants, depts.
  •  Increase interconnected greenways
  •  Support mobile healthcare, localize health clinics
  •  Increase the use of central sewer to reduce health risks

All of these topics can be incorporated by the many various agencies, but need public awareness and support. They will be considered in the long term objectives of the future plans for and by the county.
