PLASTIC POLLUTION: It’s everybody’s problem Dr. Laura Tiu, Marine Science Agent for Walton and Okaloosa Counties will discuss Micro Plastics, a new term which is being tossed about, but what’s with all the fuss? The rise of plastic use can be traced from the production of celluloid combs of the early 1900’s to the explosion of plastic production after World War II, to the introduction of bottled water in the late 1980’s. After nearly a century of plastic production, we have discovered negative environmental impacts that we never anticipated. Now the questions are: how bad is it and what can we do to combat our plastic addiction? Discover the dangers of micro plastics and how gardeners can adopt sustainable practices to reduce these pollutants in the environment. Light refreshments served. Space is limited.
