Alert Walton is a mass notification system that allows Walton County  Emergency Management to provide residents with timely alerts from the  National Weather Service and other emergency alerts. Residents can sign  up by entering contact information and subscribing to notifications of  interest at www.AlertWalton.org.

    Follow the Walton County Beach Rules

    • Leave No Trace - Items left on beach overnight will be discarded
    • Permits Required - Vehiclesdogs and bonfires require permits
    • Stay Safe - Obey all beach flag warnings
    • Sea Turtle Season rules, ordinances and laws
    • Know Before You Go (Beach and Waterways Ordinance 2017-05)
      • To prevent crowding, no tents larger than 6x6 are permitted on county owned or maintained beaches ( Section 22-54 (q))
      • No glass containers are permitted on the beach (Section 22-54 (d))
      • Removal of sand, water or vegetation is strictly prohibited
      • Keep off the dunes
         

    What is Customary Use?

    In June of 2016 the Walton County Board of County Commissioners adopted the Customary Use code, allowing all areas of flat sandy beach fronting the Gulf of Mexico to be used in the traditional beach manner. Traditional use includes swimming, sun bathing, fishing, beach chairs and beach towels, as well as shade umbrellas under 7’ in diameter.

    2017 Fall Cattle Seminar at Paxton Ag Center - Registration Required 2017 Fall Cattle Seminar at Paxton Ag Center There are roughly 12,000 head of cattle in Walton County, making them an important part of agriculture in Walton County. The University of Florida/Walton County Extension is offering an educational program to help livestock owners stay competitive and up-to-date on the business. Topics covered will include beef nutrition, beef cattle management and reproductive management strategies.

    2017 BEACH VENDOR POST SEASON MEETING You are hereby notified that the Walton County Tourist Development Council Beach Code Enforcement staff will hold a meeting on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the South Walton Annex located at 31 Coastal Center Blvd. Santa Rosa Beach, FL. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the 2017 Beach vending season and general beach vending issues. All current and prospective beach vendors are encouraged to attend.

    Beach Driving, Charter Fishing and Dogs on the Beach Permits

    Walton County offers a variety of Beach Driving Permits, Charter Fishing Permits and Dogs on the Beach Permits for Walton County landowners and/or residents.  The procedures for applying for and receiving a permit are outlined and dictated by the Walton County Beach Activities Ordinance 2017-05.  


    For those wishing to receive a permit, each permitting processes has its own set of qualifications that must be met, and procedures that must be followed. For detailed information, please view the Walton County Beach Activities Ordinance 2017-05.

    Additionally, each permitting process comes with it own set of application opening dates and deadlines for applying.  As these dates arise, the links to the online applications and printable applications will be available under the headings below.
